Hi, and welcome to this, our new regular news feature from AMAP, to keep you informed of the latest happenings and developments in Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing from The University of Sunderland.
We aim to bring you information about all areas of our activity, from our research themes, to business engagement, to funded projects, our networking forums and even our Formula Student racing activity, as well as some key happenings and events with some of our partners both new and old. We trust you find the news feature informative and useful, in line with our AMAP vision to inform, inspire and innovate in advanced manufacturing.
It was really as this year started to near its conclusion that we looked back and reflected a little on some of the projects we have been involved with, as well as some of the exciting plans we have for the future that inspired us to create the news feature so that you, our friends, colleagues, partners and collaborators can be better informed of the latest happenings, as perhaps there are many things we are involved with that may not be apparent or visible to those not working or involved on a day to day basis.
The purpose is to inform and inspire which can lead to innovation and success in the business activities of our partners and individuals we work and engage with. It's great to see that the work we do is recognised widely, not just in the North East, or nationally, but also internationally too, and this first news feature highlights this in at least one of our stories. Our reputation for excellence has seen us secure a high profile European research project via the Marie Curie initiative, where we have a fully funded researcher now with the team here at AMAP working in the area of advanced maintenance. To contextualise this, we secured one of only a handful of funding awards against competition from over 900 applications from high quality research and academic institutions across the EU. Again this research is industrially based and we are working with several different companies in the North East to deliver this, but other companies are always welcome to engage. So we hope you enjoy finding out more on that particular project too as part of this news feature.
It's exciting times in AMAP and some of the new projects we will discuss in our news are of benefit to your companies or industries. We always strive to have a strong industrial basis in everything we do so we look forward to any ideas you may also have to work together. We intend to keep you updated on a regular basis with our activities moving forward, so we trust you find this news feature informative, inspiring and of value.
You will also find dates and information on upcoming AMAP events and training, so you can keep the space free in your diary well in advance. We look forward to seeing you at our future events and keeping you up to date on our various activities, as well as giving you progress reports on the Sun Racing Formula Student team.
Please feel free to contact us at any stage for more information on the articles featured, or if we can assist you further.
