The University of Sunderland is a research active university, with a research active curriculum, enhancing the academic standing of the institution as a seat of higher learning and scholarship, undertaking research which both enhances the learning experience of our students, and delivers impact.
AMAP plays a key role in the development of Advanced Manufacturing within the North East of England. We undertake interdisciplinary research within Automotive, Supply Chain, Low Carbon Vehicles, Manufacturing Technology, Product/Process Design and Materials Science. Research within each of these areas is undertaken by multidisciplinary teams from across the Department in collaboration with academic and industry partners which brings world leading and internationally excellent recognition. Thanks to the breadth and quality of the University of Sunderland’s research strategy, the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF), which assesses the quality of research in the UK’s higher education institutions, stated that Sunderland were judged to be world leading and internationally excellent and several subject areas were awarded the 4* maximum standard of world leading research.
AMAP are always looking to build new links with industry, research institutes and other Universities through collaborative partnerships. These partnerships can bring many benefits to your organisation; from access to our facilities, expertise and professional consulting services through to graduate recruitment and continuing education for your staff.
Additional research material can be sourced through the SUnderland REpository (SURE) which is a collection of the research output produced at the University of Sunderland. It contains book chapters, journal articles, reports, artworks, PhD and MPhil theses, conference papers and many other items.
