Advanced Maintenance

The Institute for Automotive and Manufacturing Advanced Practice (AMAP), has established a reputation for providing solutions to many of the problems industry face due to inappropriate equipment maintenance. Our staff are active in a wide range of R & D projects in many sectors including Food and Drink, Automotive, and Marine.

Our specialist areas include advanced maintenance strategy development, Total Productive Maintenance, Reliability Centered Maintenance, Condition Based Maintenance, Computerised Maintenance Management Systems, simulation and modeling of maintenance patterns and reliability, intelligent software and E-Maintenance.

All our R & D projects are collaborative ventures with local industry, the aim is to support competiveness and cost reduction techniques through applied maintenance strategies. We are also working with industrial and academic partners within the national and international advanced maintenance community. We offer undergraduate and Post graduate academic programmes which cover all aspects of advanced maintenance.

We recently launched the North East Maintenance Forum which is a collaboration between AMAP, the Advanced Manufacturing Forum and the University of Sunderland with the aim to become the UK’s premier forum for maintenance debate and networking at the forefront of developing innovative solutions for maintenance technologies and strategies.
